Shoryu Ramen Restaurant Group to launch fourth London site

The London-based Shoryu Ramen Restaurant Group is to launch its fourth location, in the Broadgate Circle Development near Liverpool Street, in April.

The new 82-cover site (with 12 seats outside) will offer the group's usual ramen-based menu, alongside new features including a Robata grill and a specialist sushi bar, serving dishes such as yakitori skewers, and maki rolls with fusion twists.

The menu places great importance on the specially-prepared, 12-hour-cooked pork stock; soy motodare; and thin, straight noodles of "bouncy" and chewy consistency.

Typical drinks choices include royal warrant sake, plum wine, Kyushu island shochu spirit, Japanese whisky, and Asian-flavour cocktails, such as wasabi martini, or a yuzu mojito.

Originally opened in 2012 on Regent Street, the group is owned by Japanese native and London Japan Centre chief executive Tak Tokumine. Its executive chef, Kanji Furukawa, was born and raised in the Hakata district in the city of Fukuoka, on the island of Kyushu in Japan - the area on which the restaurant's menu focuses. He has been chef at the group since its launch.

The group's other sites are in Regent Street, Soho and Carnaby Street's Kingly Court, and it also operates a separate takeaway named Shoryu Go, on Air Street.

The 45,000 sq ft Broadgate Circle Development is set to launch officially in the next few months, as a new retail, leisure and food destination. It will also feature branches of the brands Comptoir Libanais, the Botanist, Yauatcha, and the José Pizarro Tapas Bar & Restaurant.
