Hawksmoor co-founder Will Beckett to join NRB Debate 2015 panel

The co-founder of steak restaurant group Hawksmoor, Will Beckett, is to join the NRB Debate panel at this year's Northern Restaurant and Bar (NRB) show.

The restaurateur will take part in the event on 17 March, speaking about how to run restaurants in the northern regions. He will join Craig Bancroft, co-owner of Michelin-starred country hotel and restaurant Northcote, and author Nick Lander, in a discussion inspired by the business lessons described in Lander's well-known book, The Art of the Restaurateur.

The NRB's chief executive, Thom Hetherington, will also interview Beckett on his experience.

First founded along with Beckett's business partner Huw Gott in 2006, Hawksmoor now has five sites across central London, and recently opened its first non-London restaurant, in Manchester.

Lander, who is originally from Manchester, commented that appearing at the NRB 2015 was like "coming home".

He said: "I'm thrilled to be invited to speak at the NRB Debate, and delighted to return to the city that first titillated my tastebuds. The region's food and drink scene is clearly blossoming so it will be fascinating to discuss the Art of the Restaurateur and its application in the North."

Hetherington has commended the debate panel as a "huge coup" for the show, and the North. He said: "I am a massive fan of Nick's book, which brilliantly articulates the intangible but steely magic that makes the difference between good restaurants and great ones. It will be fascinating to hear how these universal rules apply to the North of England in particular."

Tickets to the debate, which will take place from 12-2pm, cost £60 including lunch and wine, and signed copies of the book will be available to delegates at a special price of £14.95. The event is owned and organised by Holden Media.

Debate speakers in previous years have included Tim Bacon, chief executive of Living Ventures, and Marcello Distefano, chief executive of the San Carlo Group. Other famous names taking part in the NRB 2015 as a whole include Michelin-starred chef Daniel Clifford, Kenny Atkinson, Michael Wignall, and Nacho Manzano.

The NRB 2015 is taking place as part of Northern Hospitality Week, which comprises five days of industry debates and business events, including the announcement of the NRB Top 50 individuals, charity dinners, and association meetings.
