New Radisson Blu hotel for Birmingham Airport

Carlson Rezidor has announced the launch of its 15th Radisson Blu in the UK, at Birmingham Airport.

The 220-bedroom new-build hotel is scheduled to open in early 2017. Located at the main entrance to the airport, it will include a restaurant, café/lounge, bar, 1,300 sq m of meetings and events space, health club, and 200 parking spaces. Shuttle buses will connect the hotel to the terminals, railway station and the National Exhibition Centre.

The hotel is being developed by the owner, Walnut Hotel Holdings.

Wolfgang Neumann, president and chief executive of Rezidor, said: "The Radisson Blu hotel, Birmingham Airport will ideally complement the existing Radisson Blu hotel in the city centre, create potential for operational and marketing synergies, and enforce our presence in town."

Group managing director of Walnut Hotel Holdings, Robert Hancocks, added: "I am delighted to be able to undertake what will be a landmark hotel with such well known and credible operator as the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. The growth of the airport as an international hub and the ongoing success of the NEC makes for a very exciting future together."
