Mandarin Oriental confirms breach in credit card security
Mandarin Oriental has confirmed that there has been a security breach involving the credit card details of a number of guests across "an isolated number" of its properties in Europe and the US.
The luxury hotel chain, which operates 27 hotels worldwide including the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London, would not say which hotel are impacted. A "forensic investigation" is currently underway.
In a statement, the group said it had removed the offending malware and is working with credit card agencies, law enforcement authorities and forensic specialists to put additional security measures in place to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to fully protect the personal information of guests.
"We take the protection of customer information very seriously. Unfortunately incidents of this nature are increasingly becoming an industry-wide concern and we have therefore also alerted our technology peers in the hospitality industry."
Any guests who believe unauthorised activity has taken place on their credit card are advised to contact their credit card provider directly.
