Jason Atherton reveals female focus for Social Wine and Tapas

Jason Atherton has revealed details of his seventh London restaurant, Social Wine and Tapas in James Street.

The wine shop and bar will include counter tables on which tapas will be served.

Atherton told London's Evening Standard that he would bring his wife Irha into the business to head up the new site. She will be joined by group sommelier Laure Patry.

He said that putting his wife in charge would provide an antidote to the male domination in London's kitchens.

"Having females heading up the restaurant softens it up," he said. "We don't want to be the testosterone-fuelled lunatic bunch of guys running restaurants 20 hours a day, seven days a week.

Social Wine and Tapas will offer seating for 30 on the ground floor, with a basement wine bar and restaurant with 40 covers.
