Medirest wins £35m NHS contract extension
Medirest has signed a bundled services contract extension with the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and Barnet, Enfield & Haringey Mental Health Trust, worth £35m.
The five-year deal will see the healthcare division of Compass Group continue to deliver a range of services to the two Trusts, including catering, portering, retail, security, grounds and gardens maintenance, domestic and window cleaning, pest control and postal services.
Medirest has worked with both organisations at Chase Farm since 1997. The new contract includes the addition of four extra sites, taking the total number covered to 14 including St Ann's and Chase Farm Hospital.
Existing restaurants will be rebranded to reflect a health and wellbeing approach and it will develop a new retail shop. These services will be delivered by a team of 400 Medirest employees, for more than 3,000 staff across the Royal Free London and Barnet, Enfield & Haringey Mental Health Trust, as patients and daily visitors to the 14 sites.

We're now looking to build on our track record and the introduction of the online ordering system, as well as new restaurants and retail solutions are key parts of this plan."
Martyn Jeffery of the Royal Free London NHS Trust added: "We're going to see a lot of redevelopment across this site over the next few years and teaming up with Medirest will help reflect these changes in more aspects of our service - such as the innovative food ordering initiative and the patient dining system."
