Soho House to open fifth UK Chicken Shop

The Soho House group is to open a fifth UK location for its Chicken Shop concept, in Balham, south west London.

The 2,000 sq ft ground floor restaurant is to open this summer. Part of the Soho House portfolio, which also includes Pizza East and Dirty Burger, the rotisserie brand already has four London sites, comprising Tooting, Holborn, Kentish Town, and Whitechapel. It also has a site in Chicago, USA.

The new London location was chosen thanks to Balham's popularity with young professionals and their families, with the acquisition completed by property agency Shelley Sandzer on behalf of Soho House.

Chicken Shop serves free-range chicken from Norfolk, simply presented either as a quarter, half or whole. The meat is marinated and steamed, before being grilled on the rotisserie over charcoal and wood just before being served with sides such as triple-cooked chips, coleslaw, corn on the cob, and salad, plus hot or smoky sauces. The desserts are apple pie, lemon tart, and chocolate brownie.

The group also operates a takeaway option.

Chicken Shop first opened in 2012, underneath the then-new Pizza East restaurant in Kentish Town, north London.

Founded in 1995, Soho House began as a private members' club for professionals in creative industries, and now operates 13 clubs worldwide. Its other restaurant brands in the UK include the Hoxton Grill, Dean Street Townhouse, the Electric Diner and Soho Kitchen & Bar.
