HR Forum to discuss the merits of babies in the office
Next month The Caterer will host an exclusive HR Forum to address how best deliver modern people practices in a hospitality operation.
Being held on the afternoon of 20th April at the Park Plaza Westminster, the HR Forum will bring together the best minds in hospitality and beyond to explore everything an HR professional needs to know to keep on top of employment issues in 2015.
Among the inspirational speakers, the keynote speech will be delivered by taxi firm Addison Lee head of human resources Clare Bishop. She will address the innovative practices employed by the Investors in People status company, including its revolutionary scheme to allow babies in the office.
With parental leave high on the agenda, Esther Smith from TLT Solicitors will explore forthcoming employment law changes, as well as offering a view on some of the possible implications of the election.
She said: "All employers need to keep abreast of current employment law to avoid the risk of expensive claims and negative PR. In the leisure sector in particular, businesses rely on their brand to attract and retain talent, and keeping the right side of the law means that you avoid cost and bad press.
"With new laws on shared parental leave, and the uncertainty of a general election looming, now is the right time to get more informed as an employer."
The HR Forum, which is sponsored by HIT Training, will also celebrate the announcement of the 2015 Top 30 Best Places to Work in Hospitality, held in partnership with Purple Cubed.
It will include a session analysing the findings of the awards, as well as hosting leading operators from The Caterer Best Places to Work in Hospitality Top 30 to discuss the key trends hitting people engagement in 2015.
The Caterer content editor James Stagg said: "Our inaugural HR Forum will be an inspirational and educational event for people leaders working within the hospitality sector.
"We will be hosting some of the UK's most enlightened employers in the hospitality industry to share their secrets, along with experts to explore what the impact of a new government might have on employment practices."
