National Apprenticeship Awards now accepting entries

Entries to the National Apprenticeship Awards have now opened.

Now in their 12th year, the awards are organised by the National Apprenticeship Service from the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS), and seek to celebrate apprenticeships that have made a real difference to employers' businesses, and to apprentices' careers.

Employers and apprentices are invited to come forward to show why their apprenticeships should be recognised and rewarded. Categories include best Advanced Apprentice of the Year, Apprenticeship Champion of the Year; and Small, Medium, or Large Employer of the Year.

The best employer entries will also have the chance to feature in the annual Top 100 Aprenceship Employers List.

The deadline for entries is 22 May, and all winners will be announced in an awards ceremony in January 2016. Entries are being accepted online via the www.gov.uk website.

Last year's winners included Hayley James from IBM, who won the Unilever Higher Apprentice of the Year 2014 award after judges were impressed by her skills.

James said: "I chose to do an apprenticeship because I truly believe that there is no better way for me to achieve the career I want."

The National Apprenticeship Service supports the delivery of apprenticeships and traineeships in England, and offers free advice to employers looking to recruit for the first time, or expand their programme.
