American Brewers Association announces sustained growth

Bob Pease, CEO of the Brewers Association, has announced that American craft beer exports for 2014 rose globally by 35.7% compared with 2013, during a speech at BeerX 2015 in Sheffield.

Global exports rose to 383,422 barrels (11,886,072 gallons) worth $99.7m (£66.7m) in 2014 and growth was strong in all major markets with Western Europe up 36.6%.

Exports to the UK continued to grow in 2014 with the UK market accounting for a 10.8% share, up from 7.8% in 2013. The UK remains the third largest market behind Canada (53%) and Sweden (12%) and was the third fastest-growing market in 2014, behind Brazil and South Korea.

Pease said that the American craft beer scene is one of the most dynamic in the world, and added: "The Brewers Association's purpose is to promote and protect American craft brewers, their beer and the community of brewing enthusiasts.

"As our brewers increasingly look to export markets, we are working to educate and inform the international trade and media about the quality and diversity of US craft beer through trade shows and festivals, competitions, seminars, publications and much more.

"These figures bear out the growing success of craft brewers in spurring international interest in innovative and flavourful beers that are delivered to consumers as freshly as possible."
