Finalists announced for Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards
The finalists for this year's Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards have been announced.
The 18 awards seek to recognise excellence across the Scottish hospitality and entertainment industry, across categories as diverse as marketing, international cuisines, burgers, fine dining, pubs, wedding venues, and live music venues.
Nominees for the awards, which are now in their fourth year, include Edinburgh restaurant Purslane (Favourite Fine Dining Restaurant); the Redefine BDL hotel Scotland (Best Marketing Team), Chaophraya in both Glasgow and Edinburgh (Best Asian Cuisine) and Inverlochy Castle (Best Wedding Venue and Most Romantic Getaway).
The awards nominations are voted for by the public via online poll, which marked a new record this year with over 60,000 votes cast. The independent judging panel will then make the final decision from the shortlist.
Other categories include Best Burger, Favourite Gay Friendly Venue, and Best Family Restaurant. The 10 finalists for the Mixologist of the Year award will also compete at the Corinthian Club in Glasgow, judged by a team of professional judges, including managing director of the LA Group Scott Gemmell, and Michelin-level-trained chef Craig Grozier.
The competition will ask contestants to create a signature drink using Brugal's new old spiced rum, which is launching in Scotland this year. The mixology contest will take place on 30 March at the Corinthian Club in Glasgow, with the winner being announced at the overall awards final on April 19, held at the Thistle hotel Glasgow. Over 750 industry professionals are expected to attend.
The awards' chief executive Warren Paul said: "We've had huge public engagement especially in our newest categories. We're very excited to welcome some new blood to the competition from all over the country and reward the best of the best in the Scottish entertainment and hospitality sector."
