Glynn Purnell to work with new Birmingham Harvey Nichols restaurant

Michelin-starred chef Glynn Purnell is to work with Birmingham's Harvey Nichols store, which is in the Mailbox development, on its new restaurant opening.

The chef, who opened his eponymous restaurant, Purnell's, in the city in 2007, is hoping to open an operation in the 45,000 sq ft centre, according to the Birmingham Mail.

More information has yet to be released, and an opening date has not yet been confirmed.

Bianca Capstick, representing food and restaurants at Harvey Nichols, said: "We're delighted to confirm that we are in discussions with celebrity chef and owner of Purnell's restaurant, Glynn Purnell, with regards to our new Birmingham store; and we look forward to revealing our exciting plans shortly."

Originally from the Birmingham area, Purnell achieved a Michelin star as head chef at Edgbaston restaurant Jessica's before opening his own 45-cover property, which won its own Michelin star in 2009, two years after opening. He also runs Purnell's Bistro and Ginger's Bar, on Birmingham's Newhall Street.

Purnell also has a growing media profile and is a regular on television cooking shows such as the BBC's Saturday Kitchen and Great British Menu.
