Hilton Garden Inn to open at Emirates Old Trafford
Hilton Worldwide has announced its latest hotel in partnership with a major sporting venue following a deal to develop its Garden Inn budget brand at the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC).
The 150-bedroom Hilton Garden Inn Emirates Old Trafford, which is to operate under a franchise agreement with LCCC, is set to launch in 2017. It will replace the 86-bedroom Old Trafford Lodge hotel, which opened 16 years ago.
It will join a number of other Hilton Worldwide hotels located alongside top UK sporting venues: Hilton Wembley, Hilton at St George's Park (home of the FA Football Centre), DoubleTree by Hilton Milton Keynes (located at Stadium:mk, home of MKDons football club), and Hilton at the Ageas Bowl, which is set to open at Hampshire Cricket Club's ground in Southampton later this year.
The five-storey hotel will include a restaurant, bar, the Pavilion Pantry serving all-day snacks, and a 24-hour fitness centre.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice-president, development, Europe & Africa, Hilton Worldwide, said: "The hotel will play an important role in enhancing the growing mixed-use offer at Emirates Old Trafford, which has established itself as a thriving business and leisure hub."
Chairman of Lancashire County Cricket Club, Michael Cairns, added: "Due to the growth in our conference and events business at Emirates Old Trafford the time has now come to capitalise on the value and suitability of our location and to construct a high quality branded 150-room hotel which will complement our stunning venue."
Hilton Garden Inn, which is one of 11 Hilton Worldwide brands, is currently located in 600 locations worldwide.
