Masterchef winner leaves Dissenting Academy days after opening
MasterChef winner Natalie Coleman has parted company with the Laine pub group just days after the opening of the Dissenting Academy pub in north London.
Coleman, who won the television cookery competition in 2013, was appointed general manager and head chef at the Newington green pub in February.
At the time she said she was "planning more entertainment and creating a menu that will appeal to everyone".
But days after the official opening on 12th March, Coleman left the pub due to her vision being "not aligned" to that of Laine's.
In a statement the Laine pub company said: "We've been working with Natalie on the development of a menu for the Dissenting Academy for a few weeks and during that time it has become clear that our strategic visions for the pub are not aligned.
"After discussing this with Natalie, we have therefore agreed not to continue working together on the project. We have very much enjoyed the food she has produced and wish her the best of luck with her future projects."
The pub now serves a range of burgers alongside dishes including baked macaroni with red Leicester, mozzarella and Parmesan, and Laines Best beer battered haddock and fries.
