easyHotel acquires Liverpool site and plans £3m conversion
Budget hotel group easyHotel has acquired a property in Liverpool, which it intends to convert into a 68-bedroom hotel for spring 2016.
The site is three minutes' walk from the Liverpool One shopping area, 10 minutes' walk from the main train station, and within reach of the Albert Docks galleries, shops and restaurants.
Simon Champion, easyHotel chief executive officer, explained that the influx of tourism to Liverpool, recent investment and its busy airport made it an attractive place to open, and formed part of the company's plans to grow.
He said: "This acquisition in the centre of Liverpool is fully in line with our strategy to expand our owned hotel portfolio into targeted major cities. It is an attractive location for an easyHotel."
The group raised £30m intended for expansion last year, after announcing its launch on to the stock market.
