New Moon Company to open second Liverpool site

The New Moon Company is to open a second location in Liverpool after securing a site on Brunswick Street.

The 140-cover venue will be built on the same concept as Paul Newman and David Mooney's Manchester restaurant, Beef & Pudding, which opened in spring 2014.

The announcement follows the company's acquisition of another property in Liverpool, the Old Blind School on Hardman Street, which is due to open in June this year.

As with the first Beef & Pudding, the menu will focus on fresh, well-sourced food, while the drinks menu will offer a wide choice of wine, local real ales, sparkling wine, and cocktails.

More than 40 new jobs will be created as part of the launch.

Commenting on the new plans, Newman said: "Having operated in Liverpool before, I am thrilled to be back at the helm of what promises to be the proverbial third place for Liverpool's great and good."

Founded in 2011 by friends and business partners Mooney and Newman, the company now operates seven locations overall between Manchester and Liverpool, (counting the Old Blind School) including the first opening, the Lord Binning Pub & Kitchen in Kelsall, the Old Sessions House Pub & Kitchen in Knutsford, and the Mockingbird Taproom in Chester.

Mooney trained with Raymond Blanc and also worked as a commis chef to Marco Pierre White, while Newman has more than 25 years' experience in hospitality front-of-house.
