Best Western Cresta Court creates new local training scheme

The Best Western Cresta Court hotel near Manchester has created a new training programme for staff in partnership with local business initiative Altrincham Forward.

The new programme, Ambassadors for Altrincham, will aim to ensure staff are better qualified to advise the hotel's guests. It will cover knowledge of the local area, allowing staff to answer questions about the history of Altrincham, its current regeneration project, local transport links and the best places to eat, drink, visit and shop.

Sessions for staff will include walking tours of the town, visits to its local places and in-hotel workshops to cover ongoing knowledge of the area.

Altrincham Forward is a partnership between the town's key stakeholders including local traders, residents and major businesses.

Paul Hindley, general manager, Best Western Cresta Court, said: "Teaming up with Altrincham Forward was a natural step. A lot of our guests rely on our front of house staff to be able to advise them on all aspects of the local area, so developing this training ensures they will be up to speed with all the exciting things that are happening and enables them to provide a more comprehensive service."

Joan Scott, Altrincham Forward Board member, said: "We are delighted to be working with the team at the Cresta Court. The staff already know a great deal about the local area, so we're adding to their knowledge [so they are] better able to promote the town's facilities and attractions."

Last year, the Best Western Cresta Court was awarded WorldHost Recognised Business status, which involved training from the locally-based Trafford College. In 2013 the hotel was acquired by hotel operating company Longrose Buccleuch Hotels in conjunction with Connection Capital and Riverside Capital, for £2.95m.
