Corbin and King to open Bellanger restaurant
Corbin and King is set to open a new restaurant in London's Islington called Bellanger.
The new venue, which will occupy a former Browns at 9 Islington Green, will open in autumn this year.
It takes its name from Corbin and King's tradition of linking restaurant names to cars, according to www.hot-dinners.com - with this one inspired Société des Automobiles Bellanger Frères, a French car manufacturer from 1912 to 1925.
The 200-seater restaurant will be designed by Shayne Brady, who previously designed Fischer's and the Delaunay, Brasserie Zedel and Colbert under David Collins.
The menu will display a "distinct nod" to the Alsatian routes of the original Parisian brasseries, and there will be a continuous food and drink offering throughout the day, from early breakfasts to late dinners.
Typical dishes will include choucroute, baeckoff and a range of tartes flambées, soups, salads, seafood, plats du jour and a number of sharing dishes.
The wine list will be principally French-based, with a focus on north eastern France and the border region with Germany. Traditional dark and blonde Alsace-Lorraine beers will be served on tap.
There will be 195 covers inside and 24 on the terrace. Head chef is Lee Ward and Claire O'Sullivan is general manager.
