Clevedon Hall appoints Alan Jones as head chef

Somerset events venue Clevedon Hall has appointed Alan Jones as its new head chef.

Jones is a former finalist in the Gordon Ramsay Scholarship Award and joins after two years as head chef at Cowley Manor hotel and spa in Cheltenham.

He graduated from City of Bristol College and started his career at Criterion Brasserie in Piccadilly.

He was also part of the team that opened Neat restaurant under Richard Neat, before joining Foliage at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park as a chef de partie.

He took up his first head chef role at Almeida in London in 2007 before moving on to Cowley Manor.

Jones said: "I was attracted to Clevedon Hall as it's a stunning venue with a great reputation and has the potential to become one of the best venues in the South West. It is my main goal to achieve this, serving locally sourced ingredients with only the highest standards in mind."

John McCarthy, sales director of Clevedon Hall, added: "We are thrilled to welcome Alan to the team. The timing could not be more perfect as we continue to grow and build our reputation as an exclusive, luxury venue. With his exceptional talent and wealth of experience working under some of the country's top chefs, we know he will make the dining experience here at Clevedon something truly special."

Clevedon Hall officially re-opened in November following a three-year refurbishment, which cost £3m, which saw many of the Hall's original features restored as well as the addition of 25 bedrooms.
