Jubo confirms plans for second restaurant

Korean restaurant brand Jubo is to open its first standalone site after securing the former GB Pizza Co site in London's Exmouth Market.

Jubo's only existing venue is a permanent residency at the Bedroom Bar in Rivington Street in Shoreditch, which launched in 2013.

The new two-storey restaurant will serve Jubo's range of Korean fried chicken, steamed buns, barbecue meats and rice bowls.

The menu at Exmouth Market will also feature a section of ‘anju' (drinking food) and ‘banchan' (side dishes) bar-bites developed by Korean Chef, Heung Kook Lee.

Jubo draws its inspiration from the K-towns of New York and Los Angeles in the USA, and was founded by LK Foong and Lyall Schwass.

The new site will open on 5 June. Foong said: "We're still very much a start-up; a young and small business at heart. Exmouth Market with its quaint ambience and close proximity to the city allows for smaller players like us to have a presence in the highly competitive London arena. We firmly believe that our strong offering and unique positioning will spark further interest to the vibrant Exmouth Market."

The deal to secure the new restaurant was brokered by property agency David Coffer Lyons. GB Pizza Co, which already operates one site in Margate in Kent plans to open a second in the town.
