John Scanlon appointed general manager of 45 Park Lane
The Dorchester Collection has appointed John Scanlon as general manager of the five-red-AA-star, 45-bedrom 45 Park Lane, London.
He has moved from sister hotel, the Dorchester, where has been hotel manager since 2012, having earlier joined the group as director of revenue.
Born in Ireland and a graduate of Shannon College of Hotel Management, Scanlon spent 14 years earlier in his career at the Lanesborough hotel, London, where he progressed to the role of executive assistant manager.
He said: "I am excited to be working with the team at 45 Park Lane and building on the hotel's reputation for providing bespoke luxury service to our guests."
45 Park Lane became the Dorchester Collection's third hotel in the UK when it opened in 2011, joining the Dorchester and Coworth Park in Ascot, Berkshire.
Scanlon replaces Christophe Hilty, who has moved to the Dorchester Collection's 109-bedroom Le Richemond hotel in Geneva. Hilty steps into the shoes of Klaus Kabelitz who is returning to London as general manager of the 54-bedroom Belmond Cadogan, having previously worked in the capital heading up the team at the Berkeley hotel.
Christopher Cowdray, chief executive officer of Dorchester Collection said that he is proud that both appointments are internal promotions. "It shows our commitment to nurture talent from within the company and develop a strong leadership team that can help achieve our vision of being the ultimate hotel management company. Both Hilty and Scanlon bring tremendous passion, energy and drive".
The Dorchester Collection portfolio is made up of 10 hotels in the UK, Switzerland, France, Italy and the US.
