Servest launches Culinary Classroom chef training scheme

Foodservice and facilities management firm Servest Group has launched a new training programme aimed at developing talented chefs looking for their first head chef role with the company.

Dubbed the Culinary Classroom, the 10-month scheme will take place at locations across the UK when it begins in September with eight existing Servest chefs taking part.

Part of the programme will involve a three-day stint in chef Luke Tipping's Michelin-starred kitchen at Simpson's in Birmingham, as well as training from other industry leading chefs and managers.

Servest chef director Chris Ince and development chef Rhys Richardson will evaluate the progress of the trainees, who will receive an ILM endorsed award in kitchen management at a graduation event.

Ince said the Culinary Classroom demonstrates the caterer's commitment to developing a pipeline of talented future head chefs.

"It's a fantastically diverse training programme, culminating with the chance to work with Luke Tipping, one of the most accomplished chefs in the UK," he added.

The programme is currently being marketed internally with interested candidates asked to speak to their line manager about applying. The deadline for entries is 29 May 2015.
