Street Kitchen to open permanent site

Street food vendor Street Kitchen is to open its first permanent site at Broadgate Circle in the City of London in June.

The brand was founded by the Food Initiative chef Mark Jankel and chef former Pearl restaurant and bar executive chef Jun Tanaka.

It will offer fast and accessible gourmet sandwiches with "Michelin know-how" Monday to Friday from 7am to 9pm.

All the produce, which promises to be fresh and seasonal, will be sourced from sustainable, organic farms, fisheries and producers in the UK.

Designed by Adam Dawe Design and Charlie Smith Design, the 550-square foot, 18-cover site claims to feature all-natural materials and a neutral colour palate.

The menu will offer cut-to-size sandwiches by the inch and a selection of ‘grab and go' salad boxes for lunch and dinner with an average spend of £6 - £8 per head.

Available to eat-in or take-away, the sandwiches are made with focaccia bread and a range of organic ingredients. Fillings include charred organic broccoli with free-range eggs, smoky mustard mayo, pickled red onions and old Winchester cheese; and rare roast beef with caramelised onions, watercress, pickled cucumber and horseradish. Available in the evening, hot sandwiches include salt beef on rye with homemade pickle and sweet mustard; and lobster rolls with basil and shellfish mayo.

An open kitchen comprises a deli-style marble counter, stainless steel serving benches on wheels, herringbone tiles and floors, illuminated light boxes and neon ‘sandwich' signs.

A bakery trolley will allow self-service of pastries. Homemade pickles, breads and preserves will be displayed on shelving units, and 24-inch sandwiches will be constructed on boards inlaid with yardsticks for cut-to-size ordering. Two terraces on either side of the shop provide further seating outside for 24.

Beers from Camden Town Brewery, Partizan Brewing and London Fields Brewery will also be on offer, alongside a range of English sparkling wines.
