Massimo Bottura to host three-day London pop-up
Three-Michelin-starred Italian chef Massimo Bottura is to stage a three-day pop-up restaurant in London later this month.
Bottura's Osteria Francescana restaurant in Modena will come to the Contemporary Art Galleries of Sotheby's on 27-29 June.
Bottura juxtaposes tradition and innovation with art and design in his food, and is famed for unique dishes such as ‘Oops! I Dropped the Lemon Tart'.
That dish will be on offer at the residency at Sotheby's, as a tribute to Chinese artist Ai Weiwei's radical work Dropping a Han Dynasty Urn (1995).
The final course, 'Camouflage: Hare in the Woods' is inspired by Pablo Picasso who saw Cubism in a painted military truck.
Housed within the art galleries of the auction house, the restaurant will be hung with contemporary artworks by many of the artists who have influenced Bottura's conceptual approach to cooking: Lucio Fontana, Damien Hirst, Maurizio Cattelan, Gerhard Richter.
The reservation only restaurant will charge £250 for a seven-course tasting menu with a welcome aperitif, with wine-pairing available at £95.
