Andrew Colley is the new GM at the Royal Berkshire

Andrew Colley has been announced as the new general manager of the four-star, 63-bedroom Royal Berkshire country house hotel in Ascot, part of the Exclusive Hotels and Venues group.

Colley, who joined the venue in May, brings 16 years' hospitality experience, including general manager roles at the Chesterfield Mayfair, Ramada Hyde Park hotel, Audleys Wood hotel and the East Sussex National hotel.

He also has specialist knowledge in conferences, meetings and events.

He said: "[Colley] is perfectly placed to lead the venue forward in 2015. Following the recent refurbishments, this is an exciting time for the Royal Berkshire and we are thrilled to have Andrew at the helm."

Colley added: "I am honoured to be joining the Exclusive Hotels and Venues family. As someone who lives locally, I have been an admirer of the Royal Berkshire for years and can't wait to become a part of this magnificent venue."

The Royal Berkshire is set in an 18th-century mansion within 15 acres of landscaped grounds and features 11 recently renovated meeting rooms, the Polo Bar and Lounge, fitness rooms, tennis courts, a croquet lawn and the 48-cover restaurant Fork, led by executive chef Jamie Brown.

Exclusive Hotels and Venues is a collection of boutique properties, including hotels such as Pennyhill Park and Lainston House, restaurants including Camellia and the Bybrook, and venues such as Fanhams Hall country house in Hertfordshire. Its properties also include spas, golf courses and wedding venues and the group is also set to launch a cookery school in its Lainston House site.
