M Restaurants secures second site
M Restaurants, founded by former Gaucho managing director Martin Williams, has secured a second venue, six months ahead of schedule.
The as-yet-unidentified restaurant will follow the opening in December 2014 of M in 2-3 Threadneedle Walk in the City of London.
M offers a cocktail bar and wine tasting space, combined with two 90-cover restaurants - M-Grill and M-Raw - as well as private dining and events spaces.
The Threadneedle Street restaurant has enjoyed a strong start, with EBITDA performance eight times better than budget, and with first quarter performance 24.8% above EBITDA budget, according to Williams.
"Since opening only six months ago, we have enjoyed fantastic trading and seen an appetite for a multifaceted quality venue that was the M vision," Williams said.
That strong performance has allowed Williams to fast-track his expansion plans, he claimed.
"I have been working on something very special in central London for the past year that will complement Threadneedle Street as a sister venue. Most people will be very surprised when we announce the location and our plans to become the ‘go to venue', in such an exciting and vibrant part of London," he said, although he would not be drawn on further details of the new venue.
M's executive chef is Michael Reid, working alongside head chef Jarrod McCarroll, formerly of the Chiltern Fire House.
