TRG and Giraffe launch Wondertree at London Gatwick
Wondertree, the joint venture between the Restaurant Group (TRG concessions) and Giraffe, is to open in Gatwick Airport's South Terminal this month.
The 5,000 sq ft, 200-cover restaurant and café will be the group's second site, and offer sit-down dining as well as a takeaway facility, with food cooked to order in the open kitchen. There will also be wide views of the airport's runway.
Dishes will include artisan flatbreads, burgers, sharing platters, and all-day breakfast plates, plus internationally-inspired salads, morning pastries, and fresh bread. There will also be a range of gluten-free options.
The drinks menu will feature smoothies, fresh juices and shakes, plus wine from around the world, ciders, and a selection of sangria jugs.
Gatwick Airport has seen 15 new food venues open in the past three years, and aims to ensure all outlets are able to deliver food orders to customers within 15 minutes.
Nick Ayerst, managing director of TRG Concessions, said: "When challenged by Gatwick to offer an iconic casual restaurant for the South Terminal, we naturally thought of Wondertree. Wondertree embraces the new generation of eating and drinking. We are delighted to have won the space."
Andrew Jacobs, co-founder of Giraffe Restaurants, added: "This is a fantastic opportunity to build on our successful relationship with TRG in creating the premium casual dining formats in UK airports."
