Lockhart team to open second restaurant
The team behind the Lockhart restaurant in London's Marylebone is to open a second site, called Shotgun, in Soho this autumn.
The new restaurant, on Kingly Street, is scheduled to open in September, bringing Mississippi-born chef Brad McDonald's approach to barbecue to Carnaby.
The restaurant occupies the ground floor and basement of the building in which it sits, across a total of nearly 1,900 sq ft.
McDonald will offer British meat and produce smoked on Shotgun's wood-burning smoker, burning English and European hardwoods.
The ground floor will also feature a cocktail bar, with a list compiled by Matt Whiley. It will be broken down into four categories - brown liquor, punch, absinthe, and white liquor.
The restaurant takes its name from the ‘shotgun' style of house in the southern regions of the US. The structure is long with a narrow frontage, which gives it a straight ‘shot' from one end of the house to the other. The 26 Kingly Street site is said to bear a resemblance to these houses.
General manager of Shotgun will be Jonathan Cannon, who has worked at L'Enclume, Galvin Bistrot de Luxe, Roganic and Restaurant Story.
The Lockhart and Shotgun are operated by the Lonestar Food Company.
