London in the Sky restaurant to return

The London in the Sky restaurant, suspended 25m from the ground, is set to return in September this year in a new location.

Last year the restaurant appeared in Canary Wharf and this year it will move to St Katharine Docks, offering views of Tower Bridge.

The restaurant, which runs from 17 to 30 September, will seat 22 guests, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and Champagne Taittinger flights.

Food will come from Dan Doherty of Duck & Waffle, Robert Ortiz of Lima, Sophie Michell of Pont Street, Michael Reid of M Restaurants, Martin Morales of Ceviche and Andina, Tom Aikens of Tom's Kitchen, Calum Franklin of Holborn Dining Rooms and Chantelle Nicholson of Tredwell's from Marcus Wareing with further chefs to be announced in due course.

Each of the restaurants serves guests a menu of signature dishes during the 14-day festival. Dinner guests enjoy a Champagne Taittinger reception, with all lunches and dinners being paired with Villa Maria wines.

Tickets will cost £50 per head for breakfast, £125 for lunch, £200 for dinner, and £75 for the Taittinger flight.

Dan Doherty of Duck & Waffle said of the event: "London is now one of the leading food cities in the world. As if that wasn't enough, we took it to another level with London in the Sky. It's a view we are used to at Duck & Waffle, being located on the 40th floor, but to have the opportunity to cook outside suspended with a view of one of London's landmarks, Tower Bridge, and being able to directly connect with our guests is something very special indeed."

Tom Aikens of Tom's Kitchen said: "I'm delighted to be involved in such an exciting project. With London in the Sky and Tom's Kitchen both based at St Katharine Docks this year, it seemed like the perfect fit - it will be great to give guests the opportunity to experience the restaurant both on land and in the sky."

Lynn Murray, marketing director at Hatch Mansfield (sole UK agent for Champagne Taittinger and Villa Maria) added: "This is the second year that Taittinger and Villa Maria have got involved with this unique, top quality dining experience. There is a great choice of different styles of food prepared by some of London's finest chefs paired with New Zealand's most awarded wine producer Villa Maria and Champagne Taittinger - a perfect match to the exceptional canapés being prepared for the dedicated Champagne flights - a very special way of enjoying the London skyline."

Dale Agar of Events in the Sky said of the event: "The inaugural London in the Sky event was so successful that we've decided to extend the event to two weeks this year, offering the public this once in a lifetime experience to enjoy the finest cuisine served by some of the capital's most talented chefs. St Katharine Docks is a true London gem and will offer unique views of popular landmarks; Tower Bridge, the Shard and the Walkie-Talkie".
