Las Iguanas group to open site in Coventry
Latin-American style restaurant group Las Iguanas is to open a new site in Coventry.
The 158-seat restaurant (plus 52 seats outside) is expected to open its doors on 31 August, within the city's new "dining quarter" on Cathedral Lanes in Broadgate Square.
The menu will focus on the group's usual varied offering, including Mexican fajitas, burritos and enchiladas, plus regional Brazilian curry such as xinxim or moqueca. It also serves chicken half or whole, with a choice spicy sauces. There are also separate veggie, vegan, gluten free, and children's menus, plus a wide choice of cocktails.
The new venue's interior has been created by B3 Designers and will feature pendant lighting, artisan tiles, wood ceiling panels and recycled crates, in a bid to evoke the outside terraces of South America.
Head of brand Lucy Harwood said: "We have already received a warm welcome from neighbouring businesses that see the opening of the new restaurants as a great opportunity to bring many more diners into the city centre. We can't wait for Coventrians to come and experience all that Las Iguanas has to offer."
Founded in 1991 by Eren Ali and Ajith Jaya Wickrema (the 2009 Group Restaurateur Group Catey winners), Las Iguanas is currently in the midst of a wider expansion programme, having announced its intention in 2013 to open 40 new locations by the end of 2014. It currently has over 40 locations and counting, with the most recent having opened in Swansea.
Its other sites are spread across the UK including at London's O2 arena, the Oracle shopping centre in Reading, Cambridge, Newcastle, Manchester, Cheshire Oaks, Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, and in Royal William Yard in Plymouth.
