The Lucky Onion group, owned by Sam and Georgie Pearman, will be launching the Lucky Onion Drinks Academy on 19 August.

The husband and wife team operate a group of boutique hotels, pubs and restaurants in the Cotswolds and the new academy will offer training schemes covering spirits, wines, ales and coffee.

Further expansion plans for the business include the introduction of the Lucky Onion Chef Academy which is expected to follow shortly after.

Speaking about the drinks academy the couple said: "It's been a great year of growth for the Lucky Onion, and we are hugely excited for this next stage. With all that we do, we always strive to create a wonderful experience for our guests and believe that the Lucky Onion Drinks Academy will bring an extra dimension to the service we already provide."

The Lucky Onion Drinks Academy will be collaborating with a number of suppliers to develop a programme including Alex Turner of Coe Vintners who has worked in the drinks industry for more than 25 years.

Recruits will learn the importance of creative recipes and menu planning for a heightened drinking experience with participants who successfully complete the year-long course being awarded with industry qualifications.

The Lucky Onion Group includes boutique hotels No. 131, and No. 38 the Park in Cheltenham as well as the Wheatsheaf Inn, and restaurants the Tavern and the Chequers.
