Châteaux & Hôtels Collection names new UK member

Headlam Hall Country hotel & spa in Darlington, County Durham, has become the first new UK member of Chateaux & Hotels Collection since the organisation announced its intention to expand here in February. It joins one other British member, Astor Court hotel in London.

Room rates at the 39-bedroom Headlam Hall start at £117 a night. The 17th-century country house offers a gourmet restaurant, tennis court and nine-hole golf course and has been owned by the same family for four generations.

"This addition confirms our ambition to expand in the UK and Northern Europe, finding authentic properties," said Xavier Albertie, chief executive of Chateaux & Hotels Collection. "Headlam Hall embodies what the collection stands for - charming houses with a soul."
