Hilton Worldwide reaches milestone one million bedrooms
Hilton Worldwide now has one million bedrooms open or under development across 94 countries.
The landmark figure was revealed during the publication of Hilton Worldwide's second quarter results for 2015, in which the company has raised its full-year 2015 outlook for the second quarter in a row after a strong set of results for the three-month period to 30 June 2015.
The company, which opened 82 hotels during the period, achieved adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) of $777m (£497m), up 15% from $431m between April to June 2014.
Revenue per available room also increased 5.2% during the second quarter on a currency neutral basis, year-on-year.
The positive results mean the company has increased its outlook for the full year to an adjusted EBITDA of between $2,820m (£1,804m)and $2,870m (£1,836m).
During the second quarter, the company approved 24,000 new rooms for development, growing Hilton Worldwide's development pipeline to 1,510 hotels, consisting of more than 250,000 rooms, by the end of the second quarter.
Christopher Nassetta, president and chief executive of Hilton Worldwide, said: "We continue to lead the industry in organic growth with the largest rooms pipeline and largest share of rooms under construction. Including rooms signed this month, we also reached the milestone of having one million rooms open or under development."
