Travelodge opens at Winnersh Triangle
Budget brand Travelodge has announced the opening of a £7m hotel at Winnersh Triangle in Berkshire. The landlord is Milton Keynes Park Trust Limited.
The 93-bedroom property with bar-café will create 18 new jobs and offer room rates starting at £33. The opening sees the introduction of new king-sized beds called the Travelodge Dreamer, as well as space-saving truckle beds in all family rooms.
HR director Julia Rosamond said: "By offering great quality rooms at unbeatable value we will help attract new visitors to the area. This will help to boost the local economy by £1.65m annually."
This hotel will be Travelodge's 15th in the county. Rosamond added: "Berkshire is a key growth area for us and as part of our development strategy we are looking to open a further six hotels across the county and are looking for sites in Ascot, Slough, Sandhurst, Reading, Windsor and Wokingham."
In February, Travelodge announced plans to open 15 hotels across the UK in 2015, with an investment value of £100m.
This expansion of the brand will create 400 new jobs and take the group's number of hotels up to 510, with 37,906 rooms, confirming its position as the second largest hotel brand in the UK behind Whitbread's Premier Inn, which has recently launched its 700th.
Travelodge, which this year celebrated its 30th anniversary, has also identified the potential over the next eight years for a further 150 new hotels, which would create an additional 3,000 jobs.
