Tim Allen to depart from Launceston Place

Tim Allen, head chef of Launceston Place, one of D&D London's flagship restaurants, is to step down from his role to move to the countryside for personal and family reasons.

Yorkshire-born Allen joined Launceston Place in 2012 to take up his first head chef position from two-Michelin-starred Whatley Manor in the Cotswolds, where he spent seven years under head chef Martin Burge. He previously spent four years with John Burton Race, first at L'Ortolan and then at the Landmark.

Allen said he hoped to secure a new position in the country in due course. "I've enjoyed a fantastic period of time at Launceston Place, winning a Michelin star shortly after my arrival, which we've retained since, and four rosettes in the AA guide for the last two years," he said.

"I owe a great deal of thanks to D&D for the immense amount I've learned and developed during my time with the company, which has consistently shown me unwavering support."

"I'm extremely proud of my team and everything we have achieved at Launceston Place and would like to thank everyone for their passion, dedication and commitment, and wish them all the best of luck for their futures."

David Loewi said: "Tim Allen has been a huge asset to Launceston Place, he is an incredibly talented chef and we wish him luck in the future. We will make an announcement shortly regarding the new head chef."

Launceston Place is one of 34 restaurants within the D&D London portfolio, which has a combined turnover of £75m. As well as Launceston Place, the Angler restaurant - headed by executive head chef Tony Fleming - within South Place hotel is the only other establishment within the group to hold a Michelin star.
