New general manager steps into Corinthia London

Thomas Fischer has been named as the new general manager of Corinthia Hotels' five-star flagship property, the 294-bedroom Corinthia hotel London.

German-born Fischer moves from his position as general manager at Corinthia hotel Budapest, which he has held since March 2012.

Fischer, who has more than 21 years' experience with international luxury brands such as Kempinski and Hyatt, was recently awarded Budapest's Hotelier of the Year 2015 award in the Best of Budapest & Hungary awards. Under his leadership, the hotel was named Hungary's Hotel of the Year 2014 by the country's restaurant association and tourist board.

He replaces Renaud Gregoire, who will be moving into a consultancy role for the hotel group. Gregoire had been appointed general manager last September, when previous incumbent Matthew Dixon was promoted to the new role of group commercial director.

Commenting on the move, Fischer said: "It feels like the perfect next step for me. I look forward to building Corinthia London's global reputation as an iconic, world-class hotel."

Chief executive Simon Naudi added: "Thomas joins Corinthia London at a very exciting time, with the city attracting an increasing amount of leisure and corporate travel."

Corinthia London is the ninth of Corinthia Hotels' collection of five-star properties. Housed in a Victorian building in Whitehall Place, the hotel's 294 rooms include 40 suites and seven penthouses. It also offers three restaurants, a bar and a state-of-the-art spa. The group was founded in Malta in 1962 by the Pisani family.
