José Pizarro is the new UK ambassador for Cordoníu Raventós
Chef José Pizarro is the new UK ambassador for drinks brand Cordoníu Raventós, in particular the cava variety, Anna de Cordoniu.
As part of the partnership, Pizarro's new restaurant, José Pizarro Broadgate in London, will feature an Anna Blanc de Blancs-branded terrace, while all three José Pizarro restaurants will showcase the Anna Blanc de Blancs alongside a range of still wines from the brand's portfolio.
Pizarro said: "I am delighted to continue working with Codorníu. It is amazing to partner with a Spanish brand that I love and that represents both great value and great quality."
Simon Bradbury, Codorníu Raventós UK managing director, added that the chef would help the brand grow its presence in the UK. He said: "José is the leading Spanish chef in the UK and his star is still rising. He has a natural synergy with our brand. It's exciting to have him on board."
Named after the Codorníu dynasty's heiress Anna Codorníu, Anna Blanc de Blancs is exclusive to the UK on trade.
Pizarro owns three Spanish-style restaurants across London, including the José Tapas Bar and the Pizarro Restaurant, which both opened on Bermondsey Street in 2011, and José Pizarro Broadgate, which opened in May this year. He previously worked at London Spanish restaurant Eyre Brothers and Brindisa.
Bodegas y Viñedos Codorníu Raventós was founded in 1551, when landowner Jaume Codorníu began to produce wines. It is now managed by the Raventós descendants, who became involved after the Cordoníu heiress, Anna, married Miguel Raventós in 1659.
