The Fat Duck to reopen on 29 September with new menu

Heston Blumenthal restaurant the Fat Duck is to reopen in Bray, Berkshire, on 29 September.

The three-Michelin-starred site has been closed in its original location since it shut doors for a refurbishment and nine-month relocation to Melbourne, Australia.

The team has now returned to the UK to re-open the original site, which has been in operation 21 years. Housed within a 16th-century building, the restaurant has now undergone a series of renovations, including structural maintenance and a new kitchen, plus new cutlery, lighting, and tableware.

Booking will be available on the restaurant's website from midday on 3 September.

Blumenthal will bring back ideas and inspiration taken from the restaurant's move to Melbourne, with the new menu to also focus on the idea of a "perfect nostalgic day" from the chef's own childhood.

Older, favourite dishes such as the bacon and egg ice-cream will not be on the main menu, but feature on a "hall of fame" archive which can be requested specially.

Commenting on the new plans, Blumenthal said: "It will be a journey, starting from the instant you book your ticket, ever-growing excitement for when you arrive and ending after you leave. It is me, describing my childhood holiday memory full of adventure, curiosity, discovery and playfulness."
