Abergavenny Food Festival closes on a high

The third and final day of Abergavenny Food Festival took place last Sunday and saw thousands more food-lovers visit the beautiful Welsh town to listen to world-class chefs, join in with tasting sessions and sample the offerings of 220 stallholders along the market streets.

Newly appointed chair of the Festival, Melanie Doel said. "Abergavenny food festival has established itself as the hub of food debate across Britain. For anyone in the food business, including all the top chefs, Abergavenny was the place to be this weekend."

The festival was opened by chef Tom Kerridge who spoke to visitor's about his new cookbook Tom's Table: My Favourite Everyday Recipes.

Other chef's on the line-up included Cyrus Todiwala OBE, chef-proprietor of Café Spice Namaste; Mitch Tonks and Mat Prowse, co-owners of the Seahorse Restaurant in Brixham; Raymond Blanc OBE, chef-proprietor of Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons; and the Groundnut boys, Duval Timothy, Jacob Fodio Todd and Folayemi Brown, the young south Londoners behind very successful Groundnut supper-club come pop-up-restaurant in St John's Hall near Tower Bridge in London.

Heather Myers, chief executive of the festival added, "A lot of hard-work and dedication goes into organising the festival and it's amazing to see that it has all paid off.

"We'd like to thank all the chefs and professionals involved in the masterclasses and demonstrations along with the thousands of people that came to see us this weekend. We hope you had as fantastic a time as we did.
