Hogs Back Brewery marks England's despair with Mourning Glory

Following England's untimely exit from the Rugby World Cup, Hogs Back Brewery has rebranded its seasonal ale as Mourning Glory.

Pubs stocking the 4.4% ABV golden beer England's Glory, which was brewed for the tournament, will be sent pump clips with the new name.

Australia beat England 33-13 on Saturday (3 October), shattering England's hopes of emerging from their group.

England are the first host nation to go out in the group stages of a World Cup and this is the earliest England have ever exited the tournament.

Hog's Back Brewery managing director Rupert Thompson said: "As soon as the shock of England's unfortunate exit sunk in, we were straight back to the drawing board to redesign the pump clip.

"It's still a great beer, and we're sure England's battered supporters will see the funny side - eventually - and continue to toast those countries that do manage to progress with a pint or two of Mourning Glory."
