Scotland's oldest hotel to undergo facelift

Scotland's oldest hotel, the Salutation hotel in Perth, is to undergo a major restoration.

The venue, which dates back to the early 17th century and has played host to guests ranging from Bonnie Prince Charlie to David Bowie, is to be upgraded over the next four to six weeks according to thecourier.co.uk.

Under the plans put together by operator Strathmore Hotels, the venue's famous piper figurines above its entrance will be restored and lit up by lamps at their feet.

A spokeswoman for the venue told TheCourier: "We have long heard phrases such as ‘could do with a lick of paint' and ‘the outside needs tarted up' and, frustratingly, we wish it had been as simple.
