Whittlebury Hall & Spa to be sold for around £30m
Whittlebury Hall & Spa, the four-AA-star, 212-bedroom hotel in Northamptonshire which went into administration four years ago, has been put up for sale for £30m.
Located adjacent to the Silverstone Formula One race circuit, the hotel was taken over by business advisory firm Zolfo Cooper (now AlixPartners) in December 2011.
The hotel has always traded well since opening as a purpose-built, Georgian-style country house hotel and training centre in 2000. However, the former owner, Mike Rockall was unable to service the heavy debt which had been secured when the hotel was valued at around £60m prior to the recession.
In the hotel's 2014 annual accounts, lodged at Companies House, the business achieved an annual turnover of £15.3m, with a pre-tax profit of £1.7m.
Whittlebury Hall comprises three restaurants: the two-AA-rosette Murrays for fine-dining, Astons and Bentleys (Italian pasta and pizza); extensive conference facilities with 50 meeting and syndicate rooms; and a spa with 23 treatment rooms.
The hotel is one of three that has been shortlisted in the conference and banqueting team of the year category at the Hotel Cateys 2015. The results will be announced on 27 November.
Property company HVS Hodges Ward Elliott has been appointed to market the property.
