DoubleTree by Hilton opens in Coventry

DoubleTree by Hilton has opened its first property in Coventry following a multi-million pound refurbishment of the former Ricoh Arena hotel.

The 121-bedroom property at the Ricoh Arena, home to both Wasps RFC and Coventry City FC, will offer 50 queen rooms with stadium views, 18 deluxe rooms and two king suites.

It will include Faradays restaurant, the Mill bar and brasserie and a fitness centre. Also the Ricoh Arena contains 80 meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 7,000 delegates, including a 6,000 sq m conference and exhibition hall.

"In addition to Wasps rugby match days, we are also superbly placed for a range of leisure attractions including Cadbury World, Warwick Castle and Stratford Upon Avon and we hope to be able to bring more people to the region to savour what it has to offer, or persuade them to stay longer in the area."

John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton, added: "Situated in a multi-purpose sports stadium, the hotel is truly unique and will be a great addition to our growing portfolio in the UK."

The hotel will be the second Hilton Worldwide property in Coventry, joining Hilton Coventry. It also forms part of Hilton's UK 'stadium development story', along with Hilton Wembley and Hilton Ageas Bowl Stadium, home to Hampshire County Cricket Club. Hilton Garden Inn Emirates Old Trafford is set to open in 2017.

The DoubleTree brand is rapidly expanding in the UK. Earlier this month a property opened in Liverpool, while a new DoubleTree by Hilton was announced for Kingston upon Thames - due to open next year.
