HIT Training launches HIT Chef Academy

HIT Training, the hospitality industry training and apprenticeship provider, has launched new initiative the HIT Chef Academy to tutor chefs in key industry skills.

The academy offers a training programme for chefs and is designed to meet the demand for highly-skilled chefs in the industry. It will seek to address this shortage by teaching confidence in core techniques, such as knife skills, stocks, cold presentation, pâtisserie, kitchen management, flavour profiles and teamwork.

The apprentices will also receive masterclasses, supplier visits, and demonstrations from industry professionals such as chocolatier Paul Wayne Gregory.

Academy principal Paul Mannering will work with a team of 20 HIT chef trainers to deliver the new programme.

The launch took place on 4 November at Hospitality House, London, and included a four-course lunch prepared by 10 of the company's trainer-assessors, each accompanied by one of their apprentices.

Mannering said: "The hospitality sector is now one of the fastest growing industries in the UK. This growth is attracting more and more young adults who are looking to develop a career in hospitality. By launching the HIT Chef Academy we want to offer these learners the opportunity to gain the tools needed to enter this profession and hope to provide a solution to the chef shortage employers are facing."

HIT Training has over 1,600 cookery apprentices across the country, and aims to raise awareness of the benefits of apprenticeships for school leavers and those looking to upgrade their skills and further their career.
