OHH Pubs announces fourth site
The OHH Pub Company is to open its fourth site, this time in north Devon.
OHH, which already runs the Bear & Swan in Chew Magna near Bristol (pictured), the Old House at Home near Castle Combe in Wiltshire, and the Northey Arms near Bath, will launch the George Inn in Braunton in spring 2016.
The new site will see a £350,000 investment to bring it up to the standard of the other properties, all of which hold the AA's five-star ‘inn with rooms' rating.
It overlooks Saunton Sands, a three-mile-long stretch of beach that is reputed to offer some of the best surfing in the country. Golfers are attracted by Saunton Sands Golf Club, which has two links courses. Nearby Barnstaple also attracts a steady flow of business clientele.
The company, led by 32-year-old managing director Mark Warburton, expects to announce a fifth site in the coming weeks and has plans to expand further over the next five years.
The Bear & Swan currently has four bedrooms, which were introduced this year, with two more to be added in the new year.
Meanwhile, the Northey Arms has just completed an annexe with the construction of five more bedrooms and a fully equipped conference room for business meetings.
"We have looked at the local competition and are pleased to say it's of a very high standard - strong rival businesses are a fantastic incentive to drive the business forward and cut out inconsistencies. A diversity of local offerings attract greater numbers of visitors to the area, so everyone benefits from the increased trade."
Mark and his brother Matt joined the family firm from school. Mark has focus on operations, while Matt, now a qualified sommelier, is responsible for the group's wet sales.
