Three-Michelin-starred chef Eneko Atxa to open London restaurant
Three-Michelin-starred Spanish chef Eneko Atxa, who runs Azurmendi in Bilbao, is to open a new restaurant in London's One Aldwych hotel.
The new venue will be an informal Basque restaurant and bar, opening in summer 2016.
It will offer Atxa's interpretation of traditional Basque country cuisine, inspired by Azurmendi but delivered in a relaxed and friendly fashion.
The Covent Garden restaurant is the brainchild of Eneko Atxa and Kostas Sfaltos, One Aldwych's general manager, who said: "Eneko has incredible vision and passion for Basque cuisine and shares the same standards of quality, quest for innovation and respect for traditions as we do".
In addition to Azurmendi, Atxa's Bistró Prêt À Porter in Larrabetzu has a Michelin Bib Gourmand.
Speaking about the new venue in One Aldwych, Atxa said: "We aim to create an unpretentious modern take on rustic Basque cuisine, based on quality ingredients, simplicity and culinary heritage. One Aldwych hotel is the perfect partner for this joint creation".
