Hub by Premier Inn announces 13 new hotels

Hub by Premier Inn, the city centre budget brand that last week won the Sustainability Award at the Hotel Cateys 2015, has announced that it is to open 13 hotels in London and Edinburgh.

The success of the first Hub, which opened a year ago with 163 bedrooms in St Martin's Lane, Covent Garden, London, has encouraged its owner, Whitbread, to plough ahead with an enhanced pipeline.

Ten sites have been secured in London alongside three in Edinburgh. The second hotel will open later this month (December) in Tower Bridge, London. Further launches in the capital are planned for Brick Lane, King's Cross and Westminster.

A key focus of the Hub by Premier Inn brand is its compact bedrooms and environmental considerations driven by a digital experience. By downloading the Hub by Premier Inn app on their smartphone, tablet or, an industry first, Apple watch, guests can book and check in to the hotel. Once in their room, they can then control the lighting and room temperature, as well as add breakfast to their stay.

Simon Ewins, chief operating officer, Hub by Premier Inn, said: "We are so proud of what Hub by Premier Inn has achieved in its first year. We always knew that the demand was there for a brand that offered stylish and connected rooms, in the heart of the city at an affordable price.

"Digital connectivity, stylish design and our brilliant Hub team are what sets us apart from competitors.

Nearly 60,000 guests have stayed at the Covent Garden hotel during its first year, with an average occupancy rate of over 90%.
