Key appointments announced at CampbellGray Hotels
CampbellGray Hotels has made two key appointments as the group further expands its international portfolio.
Spencer Yeo, who earlier this year was briefly general manager at the five-red-AA-star, 105-bedroom Stafford London hotel, has been appointed operations director, while Nicholas Glenister has joined as finance director from the Dorchester Collection, where he was area director of finance for seven years.
Prior to the Stafford, Yeo worked for the US-based Viceroy Hotel Group. He was general manager for the Viceroy Santa Monica, California, having previously opened the group's property in Istanbul.
A graduate of Brighton University, Yeo began his hotel career with Radisson Edwardian and later became director of sales and marketing at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. He moved abroad in 1997, gaining international experience with Mandarin Oriental, Peninsula, Forte and InterContinental Hotels Group, working in Abu Dhabi, Nairobi, Egypt, California, Istanbul and the Maldives.
As operations director for CampbellGray Hotels, Spencer Yeo will be overseeing the expansion of the group, which currently operates the 87-bedroom Le Gray in Beirut. His new remit will also include the operation of Le Gray in Amman, Jordan, which will incorporate a 180-bedroom hotel, residences and offices, and is due for completion in 2017; the 136-bedroom Hotel Phoenicia, Malta, which will reopen following refurbishment in spring 2016; and the 48-bedroom Machrie Hotel and Golf Links in Laggan Bay on the west coast of Scotland, which is currently being redeveloped and is expected to open in 2017.
Gordon Campbell Gray (pictured), founder of CampbellGray Hotels and Hotelier of the Year 2002, said: "Spencer has a broad portfolio of experience gained in both city hotels and in resorts, which means he is perfectly qualified to oversee the operations in our hotels which cater to business and leisure guests. His appointment as operations director strengthens the CampbellGray Hotels professional team as we embark on unprecedented growth. I am confident that he will be a tremendous asset to us".
Prior to joining the Dorchester Collection, Glenister worked for Maybourne Hotel Group at Claridge's and the Connaught as director of finance for 10 years. He also spent 18 months as hotel manager at Claridge's. He studied for a degree in hotel, catering and institutional management at the University of Surrey.
Campbell Gray added: "I am thrilled that Nicholas has joined our super-professional team at CampbellGray Hotels. He has a wealth of financial experience, having held similar roles at some of London's most prestigious hotels, which will be of great benefit to our company as it goes through a period of growth and diversification."
