Tonkotsu ramen group to open fifth London site

London ramen brand Tonkotsu is to open its fifth site, in London's Notting Hill, set to open in early 2016.

The 18-cover venue, 750 sq ft site at 7 Blenheim Crescent will be the fifth location for the group and its first in west London, after it originally opened on Dean Street in Soho in 2012. This was followed by Tonkotsu Bankside, Mare Street, and Tonkotsu East, plus a concession in Oxford Street's Selfridges department store. Tonkotsu Notting Hill is expected in the first quarter of next year.

The new restaurant will serve the brand's usual menu of signature ramen made with pork bones and noodles, plus gyoza dumplings and Japanese croquettes.

Design will be from Blenheim Design, with the interior fitted by Ledbury Constructions.

Co-founded by Ken Yamada and partner Emma Reynolds, the brand is named after a creamy ramen soup originally from Kyushu, Japan's most southern island.

Yamada commented: "We are ecstatic to have acquired this site in Notting Hill. It will be our first west-London Tonkotsu and is perfect for our new open kitchen and bar set up."

He also thanked restaurant and leisure property specialist Shelley Sandzer for its work on the deal.

Leo Feldman at Shelley Sandzer added: "We have found an ideal site for Tonkotsu in a very competitive area of London and look forward to helping another exciting brand expand their presence in the capital."
