Six restaurants make Menu of the Year Catey 2016 shortlist
Six restaurants have made the shortlist for The Caterer's Menu of the Year Catey award 2016, sponsored by Quorn.
London restaurants Parlour, Portland and the Princess Victoria were successful in making the shortlist after appearing in The Caterer during the period May-July 2015.
Meanwhile, the Dining Room at Whatley Manor in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, Tom Oldroyd's eponymous restaurant in Islington, north London, and the Pointer in Brill, which is situated in the Chilterns, were chosen from the second quarter of the Catey year, the three months from August to October.
Restaurants are selected quarterly from all the menus featured on the Menuwatch pages of the Chef section of The Caterer over the previous three months.
The full shortlist of 12 menus will be judged next May, and a final shortlist of four restaurants will be released ahead of the annual Catey awards in July when the ultimate winner will be announced.
The menus are judged on innovation within the price bracket of that particular establishment or contract; good use of seasonal produce on the menu; creativity of the dishes being served; careful marrying of textures and flavours of the component ingredients; value for money; and, seeing the menu or selection of dishes, would the judges be tempted to eat there.
